Week 1: Games to watch.

As we approach Week 1 of the regular season, I thought I'd offer you my list of games to keep an eye on this weekend, along with why you should care.

Steelers vs. Falcons

This is my top pick for the weekend, and here’s why:

1. Steelers' Starting Lineup: This will be our first chance to see the Steelers' starters play a full game. I believe this team has the potential to make a strong playoff run, so I’ll be paying close attention to their performance as a whole. I’m particularly interested in seeing how Russell Wilson/Justin Fields play and how the team works together. For this game, I’m more focused on the team's chemistry and intangibles than the final score.

2. Falcons' Offense: I’m especially excited to see two players in action — Kirk Cousins and Kyle Pitts. While we know how talented the Falcons' offense is, I’m looking forward to seeing Kyle Pitts shine. The key for me is watching how Pitts connects with Kirk Cousins, as this connection could unlock a new dimension for the team.

3. Falcons' Defense: I’m eager to see how newcomers Justin Simmons and Matthew Judon fit into the Falcons' defense. Watching them merge with the current lineup will be key to understanding how strong this unit could be.

Rams vs. Lions

1. Playoff Rematch: This game is a rematch of last season’s playoffs, where Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford faced off against their former teams. Both teams have built solid rosters, and this matchup should be an exciting one.

2. Defensive Battle: Both defenses were impressive last season, and I’m curious to see how much of a step-back they will take without Aaron Donald. It’ll be interesting to see how both teams’ defenses hold up.

Jets vs. 49ers (Monday Night Football)

I’ve saved the best for last, as did the NFL with this Monday Night Football showdown. It’s shaping up to be a great game, especially with Aaron Rodgers making his Jets debut against the 49ers.

1. Jets’ Offense: I’m eager to see how Aaron Rodgers's and Garrett Wilson's connection translates from the practice field to the game. I’ll also be watching to see how Rodgers takes command of the offense and how the team plays together as a unit.

2. 49ers’ Stars: I’m excited to see the 49ers' top playmakers—Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Brock Purdy—back on the field together. Their dynamic offense will be one to watch.
